Edward Said, Throw Up Your Hands & Get Down

I dont know if this happens to you, but some music I think fits into a situation, and I'll be, y'know, grooving with my headphones on, you know what I'm talking about, when I will run right into an old woman, (it is very crowded here and old women are very tiny), and then I am no longer cool, and no longer is everything cool, and the music is no longer in accord with everything around me. Or other times, the music I'm listening to is so discongruous with everything around me that I become joyously antagonistic to my surroundings, like when I'm listening to the Deadly Snakes or Jon Rae & the River or something. If I knock into an old woman, well, hey, what can I say? But I always think it's really neat if I find music that fits in so well, nothing can happen to make it not fit. Its almost like I'm not there. And its neat that the music is totally different from place to place. I always get that in Tokyo when I'm listening to OK Computer, Brian Eno's “Another Day on Earth” and “Einstein on the Beach” by Phillip Glass (I read a thing on Radiohead where Thom Yorke said they named it Ok Computer because they were in Tokyo in a department store and the computer system shut down, and when it came back up one of the workers started saying, “Ok computer!” and then got all the customers in the store to chant it).

Also, if you were confused, my article for Japan Indy Media was under a different name. My editor told me to protect my neck

Student for Life, Winter in the Jane Bond

Living in a guest house
riding a bike
drinking the cheapest organic wine
taking a break from writing at a quiet neighbourhood bar.

The photo was from tonight and is an update of my looks for anyone who hasnt seen me in a while. It's also a testament to the uniting probabilities of alcohol. Also, who knew the best bar in Tokyo would end up being in the very town I live?

I wrote a new article for Japan Indy Media.
